Biology of malaria parasites

Our laboratory is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the unique biology of malaria parasites to pioneer novel drug interventions. We specifically investigate the pathways by which the parasites cause symptoms and transmit via mosquitoes, focusing on how they adapt and proliferate in various host cells. We also explore how these pathogens evolved unique parasitic cytoskeletal features from conserved eukaryotic elements to parasitize multiple tissues in both human and mosquito hosts.
