Project at a glance

Our group carries out research in the field of comparative genomics and molecular evolution

The group conducts investigations into comparative genomics and molecular evolution, utilizing multiple genome analysis to identify evolutionary mechanisms shaping functional genomic elements. Research examines element functions through sequence variation across species and populations, addressing molecular system robustness and evolvability. The team analyzes extensive sequencing datasets to assess selection pressures on functional components and formulate hypotheses about biological complexity origins. Multiple-genome analyses elucidate processes affecting protein-coding gene repertoires, non-coding RNAs (including microRNAs), and Conserved Non-Coding sequences, investigating their potential functions. Emphasizing medical and evolutionary perspectives, the group collaborates with experimental and clinical institutions and participates in international projects, including VectorBase, focusing on invertebrate disease vectors.
