Project at a glance

Identification of host and viral factors modulating viral pathogenicity, and search for antivirals

The group investigates how viral infections threaten global health, particularly affecting vulnerable populations like children and elderly individuals. Following the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, the team pursues advanced antiviral and vaccine development methodologies. Using reconstructed human tissue cultures, they replicate physiological conditions relevant to viral infection. Through transcriptomic and single-cell transcriptomic studies of infected tissue, researchers examine interactions between host immune responses and viral replication, emphasizing respiratory and neurotropic infections. These analyses reveal patterns of viral evolution, tissue adaptation, and specific immune reactions, enabling identification of novel antiviral therapeutic targets.
