Project at a glance
Proteostasis and microtubule cytoskeleton
The lab challenges the traditional view that gene expression and protein quantity regulation is one-directional. Research focuses on tubulins, which form the microtubule cytoskeleton. Recent work demonstrates how tubulin protein quantity provides feedback into its mRNA stability through a specificity factor. The group employs biochemical, structural, and transcriptomic approaches alongside genome-wide screening to understand tubulin protein quantity control mechanisms. Fluorescent imaging of mammalian cultured cells addresses functional aspects of protein quantity control.
