PhD Salary Awards

A specific iGE3 PhD program started in September 2013 with the launch of the PhD student salary awards.

The award consists of a salary stipend given competitively to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members, for projects with a strong genetics or genomics component. The salaries are provided for 2 years and are non-renewable. The funding covers a 70% assistant position (A2) according to the current regulations of the University of Geneva.

Since 2013 10 selection sessions have been set up in the fall of each year, and 50 students have been awarded so far.


Ongoing session - 2023

The 11th session of the PhD salary awards is in progress. The application deadline is over, and the examination process by external non-UNIGE experts has begun. The announcement of the final selection of this year's winners should be made by Monday, October 2, 2023.


Ongoing session - 2022

The 3 winners of year 2022 selection have presented their PhD project at the 11th iGE3 Annual Meeting on November 7, 2022. After that their contract has started on December 1, 2022 and will come to the end in December 2024.


Ongoing session - 2021

The 6 winners of year 2021 selection are all girls. After they presented their PhD project at the 10th iGE3 Annual Meeting on November 11, 2021, their contract started on December 1, 2021 and will come to the end in December 2023.
