Regulation of gene expression by the Ccr4-Not complex in the yeast S.cerevisiae
Studies focus on the Ccr4-Not complex, a conserved eukaryotic regulator of gene expression controlling mRNA synthesis to protein degradation. The laboratory investigates this nine-subunit complex in yeast using genetic and biochemical approaches. Recent work revealed importance for protein lifecycle, with substrates linked to ribosomes and chaperones. The "chaperone platform" model proposes the complex regulates interactions between cellular partners in diverse functions by interacting with translating ribosomes to deliver newly synthesized proteins functionally.
