  1. Prix Théodore Ott 2017 à Christian Lüscher

    Portrait de Christian LüscherLe Prix Théodore Ott sera remis en 2017 à Christian Lüscher et Andrea Volterra pour leurs travaux remarquables en neurosciences.

    Professeur au Département des neurosciences fondamentales de la Faculté de médecine, membre d’iGE3, Christian Lüscher étudie les altérations des circuits cérébraux causées par les drogues et développe des approches pour les normaliser. Andrea Volterra, professeur à l’Université de Lausanne, explore le rôle central, longtemps ignoré, des astrocytes sur la transmission synaptique.

    Le Prix Théodore Ott est en règle générale décerné tous les cinq ans par l’Académie Suisse des Sciences Médicales (ASSM). Théodore Ott (1909 – 1991), professeur en neurologie à Lausanne, est à l’origine de ce Prix, qui récompense des chercheurs établis ayant accompli un travail particulièrement remarquable dans le domaine de la recherche fondamentale en neurosciences.


  2. Remise des Prix de la Fondation Gertrude von Meissner

    Le Prix de recherche de la Fondation Gertrude von Meissner récompense des projets scientifiques dans le domaine de la prévention et du traitement des handicaps et des maladies chez les enfants et les adolescents.

  3. 4th iGE3 PhD salary awards – The final selection

    4th PhD salary awards winners

    We are proud to announce and congratulate the winners of the iGE3 PhD salary awards 2016 !

    At the end of this 4th round of selection, 4 PhD awards could be given to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members for the quality of their application.

    The winners are:

    The awardees will present their project during the 5th iGE3 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at Campus Biotech in Geneva.


  4. 4th iGE3 PhD salary awards

    For graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 faculty members.

    We are happy to announce the 4th round of the iGE3 PhD Salary Awards. Similar to the past three years, these stipends will be given competitively to graduate students working in the laboratories of iGE3 members, for projects with a strong genetics or genomics component.

    The graduate students have to be in the 2nd or 3rd year of their studies, and the salary awards will be provided for 2 years, non-renewable. The final selection will be made by an external (non-UNIGE) advisory board. The stipends should be acknowledged in publications as iGE3 PhD Student Awards.

    Please note:

    • up to 3 PhD awards could be given in this 4th round of the doctoral training support;
    • one application per laboratory will be accepted per call;
    • students from laboratories with awardees from last year are not eligible, i.e. lab of Professors Loewith, Milinkovitch, Montoya-Burgos, Murr, Riezman, Rodriguez and Zdobnov;
    • the announcement of the final selection will be made by Monday, October 17, 2016;
    • the successful applicants will present their project at the 5th iGE3 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 8, 2016;
    • the contracts will start on Thursday, December 1, 2016.

  5. Prix Koetser 2016 à Christian Lüscher

    Portrait de Christian LüscherLa Fondation Betty & David Koetser pour la recherche sur le cerveau récompense cette année Christian Lüscher.

    Professeur au Département des neurosciences fondamentales de la Faculté de médecine, membre d’iGE3, Christian Lüscher est spécialiste des mécanismes neuronaux sous-jacents aux addictions et aux troubles obsessionnels compulsifs. Il utilise des techniques novatrices telles que l’optogénétique pour mieux comprendre ces affections et proposer des stratégies thérapeutiques innovantes.

    La Fondation Koetser soutient la recherche fondamentale et clinique en neurologie et neurosciences, et en particulier dans le domaine des troubles du mouvement et de la neuropsychologie. La Fondation s’emploie également à renforcer les échanges entre la recherche fondamentale et son application clinique.

    La cérémonie de remise du Prix se tiendra le 15 septembre prochain à Zürich. Prof. Lüscher donnera à cette occasion une conférence présentant ses récentes découvertes sur l’addiction.


  6. 2016 Louis-Jeantet award ceremony

    The 2016 Louis-Jeantet Prize for Medicine is awarded to Andrea Ballabio, founder and director of the Telethon Institute of Genetics and Medicine (TIGEM), Italy, and to the biochemist John Diffley, associate research director at the Francis Crick Institute, United Kingdom.

  9. Prix Leenaards 2015 à deux chercheurs de l’UNIGE

    Portrait de Evgeny ZdobnovLa Fondation Leenaards récompense deux projets de recherche biomédicale auxquels participent, respectivement, Stéphane Armand et Evgeny Zdobnov.

    La Fondation Leenaards attribuera, le jeudi 26 mars au SwissTech Convention Center de l’EPFL, deux Prix d’un montant total de CHF 1.2 million pour des projets de recherche biomédicale particulièrement innovants.

    Le premier projet primé, dirigé par le Dr Christopher Newman (UNIL, CHUV), en collaboration avec le Dr Stéphane Armand (UNIGE, HUG) et la Dr Anisoara Paraschiv-Ionescu (EPFL), vise l’amélioration des performances physiques chez l’enfant avec paralysie cérébrale.

    Le second projet primé est mené par le Prof. Evgeny Zdobnov (UNIGE, SIB, iGE3) et le Dr Jacques Fellay (EPFL, CHUV, SIB), et concerne l’impact des variations génétiques humaines sur les infections virales chroniques.

    La Fondation Leenaards cherche à stimuler la dynamique créatrice dans l’arc lémanique. Depuis 35 ans, elle soutient des personnes et institutions à même de déployer créativité et force d’innovation dans les domaines culturels, âge et société, et scientifiques (biomédical).
